In 2021, John Mann and Alex Thomas decided to start writing musicals together, partly out of necessity, but mostly out of pleasure.

Leave it to Puck! (2021-22)

Composed in 2022, this is Alex and John's first collaborative musical. Lasting around 45 minutes in performance time (having been premiered alongside Bob Chilcott's Birdland), it traces the story of Willow and her family and the impacts that the mischievous Puck and his fairy friends have on their human lives.

The Hobbit (2022-23)

The Hobbit is a classic, ambitious and highly challenging story to work with, and we were (at 2am, the night before doing auditions for the company!) kindly granted permission from Middle Earth to reimagine this story for theatre in 2023.

In this reworking of Tolkien's adventure, Bilbo and Gandalf start off as a boy and his grandfather in the Second World War. Song excerpts are on the way, but for the meantime, enjoy the 5* review we got from the Oxford Mail.
